Converting Lofts and Attics Picton
Loft conversions transform that forgotten roof space into a proper living area, whether you fancy an extra bedroom, a home office or even an en-suite bathroom. The approach we take depends entirely on your existing roof structure.
This is genuinely one of the most popular jobs homeowners ask us about, and we’d love to help you make the most of your space. We take care of everything from start to finish: the early prep work, putting up scaffolding, all the carpentry with timber framing, any roof alterations needed, plus the complete interior fit out covering floors, plasterboard, plumbing and electrics.
The main types of conversions we carry out include:
- Dormer – a box structure that projects out from the roof slope, creating full height headroom and space for windows
- Hip-to-Gable – where we extend a sloping hipped side right out to form a vertical gable wall, perfect for semi-detached and end terrace properties to gain extra volume
- Mansard – rebuilding one or both roof slopes to an almost vertical angle with a flat section on top, giving you maximum space though this often needs planning permission
- Velux / rooflight – the simplest option where we keep your existing roofline and fit windows into the slope, ideal when you’ve already got decent headroom
- L-shaped – combining a main rear dormer with a second dormer positioned over the back addition outrigger, particularly suited to period terraced homes
Whatever type you go for, the work includes structural changes to the roof itself, installing new floor joists, fitting a proper staircase, insulation that meets current building regulations, and completing the entire interior.
Alongside our loft converting services in Picton, we can help with interior remodeling, rendering and plastering, structural wall work and plenty more besides.
